The first weekend of this year’s Coachella festival set a new record for attendance at the annual event with approximately 80,000-85,000 people attending each day of the three-day festival, up from 70,000-75,000 last year

The first weekend of Coachella 2012 closed out last night with a staggering resurrection of gangsta rap in the hands of Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg, who delivered a 90-minute set that recreated that classic era of West Coast hip-hop. With cameos from Eminem, 50 Cent and even the late Tupac Shakur was looking good, appearing as an Obi-Wan-style hologram to duet with Snoop on “Hail Mary” and “2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted.”

Levon Helm, singer and drummer for the Band, died on April 19th in New York of throat cancer. He was 71.

Dick Clark, the longtime host of American Bandstand and Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, has died at the age of 82 from a massive heart attack this morning following an outpatient procedure last night at St. John’s Hospital in Los Angeles.

Greg Ham, the flautist in Men at Work, has been found dead at his home in Melbourne, Australia. The 58-year-old musician was discovered by two friends who had become concerned for his well-being after not having seen him for some time.

Axl Rose has written another letter to fans explaining his decision to not attend the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony and apologizing to the city of Cleveland for the snub.

Nicki Minaj has deleted her Twitter account on Saturday following a dispute with some of her followers, MTV News reports. The rapper was furious with the Minaj fan site NickiDaily.com for posting snippets from her new album, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, claiming that they were “leaking” her music. Minaj blasted the site on Twitter, and then tweeted “Like seriously, its but so much a person can take. Good fucking bye” before deactivating her account.
